Accutronics Increases Revenue by 50% with Help from Alogic-US

Inventory had always been one of the biggest problems at Accutronics, a leading electronics manufacturing company.  “We had no control of inventory accuracy,” said Wally Powell, CFO at Accutronics. “We were dealing with uneven stock and ordering way too much or the wrong items. Because we didn’t have the parts, we’d have to set up operations multiple times for one assembly. It was just getting way too costly and out of control.”

That’s when the company turned to Alogic-US to help enhance efficiencies, promote higher inventory turns and, ultimately, generate more revenue and greater cash flow.  The Alogic-US team took stock of the situation, analyzed the company’s processes, upgraded the TCM software and trained each and every staff member on its use.

“The whole team was great to work with,” remarked Wally. “Larry Ganski came to the plant three days a week for the entire summer. I remember calling him on the weekend, at all hours, to help us with some of the issues we were working through. We really considered him a part of our team.”

Aside from helping Accutronics accurately determine inventory, the TCM software helped the company consolidate its vendors, track serial numbers, streamline accounts payable and receivable, precisely track job costing, reduce downtime, decrease overall costs and simplify employee timesheets. In 18 months, Accutronics saw its revenue nearly double, from $12 million to $18 million. The company also saw inventory turns rise from just once a year to a staggering six to eight times per year.

“The implementation and training increased visibility drastically,” noted Mr. Powell. “Before Alogic-US, we had no way of tracking our inventory and processes. For example, we didn’t track serial numbers, so if a client said a product was under warranty, we couldn’t dispute it. We’d just fix it. Now we know exactly when a warranty has expired.”

Accutronics also benefited from the implementation of the TCM shop floor data collection system. This innovative system eliminated the excess time employees took to manually fill out their timesheets. It also provided real-time data, which gave management and supervisors enhanced visibility into shop order status and employee activities. In addition, the company gained immediate access to job cost data and decreased the time it took to close out the monthly financials from nearly twenty working days to around just five.

“TCM makes accounting so much smoother,” stated Wally. “Our general ledgers are neater and cleaner, and we can fix errors before we move on. We can polish it as much as we like before we release it.”

Accutronics isn’t the only beneficiary of the new software “Our clients have also benefitted immensely,” added Mr. Powell. “Our orders are ready faster, our product quality has been enhanced, and we pass the savings down to our customers. In this situation, everybody wins.”
